ResumoA importância do professor uruguaio Mauricio Cravotto na afirmação do Urbanismo como campo profissional no Rio Grande do Sul é fato reconhecido pela literatura. Uma etapa decisiva desta relação foi sua vinda a Porto Alegre, em 1948, para ministrar aulas aos estudantes dos cursos de Arquitetura e de Urbanismo do Instituto de Belas Artes. Entretanto, muitos aspectos dessa visita ainda precisam ser elucidados: quem o convidou? Com que propósitos? Que conteúdos efetivamente ministrou em suas aulas? Que abordagem apresentou sobre a cidade? Que Urbanismo, afinal, Cravotto professou no sul do Brasil? Estas são algumas das perguntas que este artigo pretende responder.AbstractThe importance of Mauricio Cravotto, uruguayan teacher, in affirming the field of Urbanism in Rio Grande do Sul is a fact recognized by the literature. A decisive step in this relationship is Cravotto’s visit to Porto Alegre to teach students of the Architecture and Urbanism courses of the Institute of Fine Arts of Rio Grande do Sul. However, the investigation about the period of time and permanence of Cravotto in south Brazil, besides the content he taught in the capital of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, are themes that have not yet been exhausted. How did the first contacts go, and how was the invitation for Cravotto to come to Brazil? What content did he actually work on the course? What approach did he present about the city? Anyway, what urbanism Cravotto taugh in south Brazil? These are the questions intended to be answered.
