Evaluation of the palmar prehension strenght using Jamar® dynamometer in Hansen's Disease patients attended in ambulatorial level in Federal District

Resumo: Hansen's disease is an infectious disease as old as mankind, caused by the M .leprae, which is transmitted from an untreated Hansen's disease bacilliferous person to another; the neural involvement is considered the main pathognomonic factor of all the clinical forms of leprosy. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the damage of the palmar prehension strenght in an analytical observational delineation, where 50 patients enrolled in the Hansen's disease Control Program of the Federal District, were compared with 50 healthy citizens. For the evaluation of the palmar prehension strenght the Jamar®'s hand hydraulical dynamometer was used. The measurements of the performance of the palmar prehension strenght between Hansen's disease patients compared to the healthy individuals were significant (p<0,05). Therefore, it was observed that the neural damage favored the reduction of the motor-sensory function in Hansen's disease patients and the palmar prehension strenght must be considered as an important parameter in the evaluation of Hansen's disease patients attended at ambulatory level.

O comprometimento neural é considerado o principal fator patognomônico de todas as formas clínicas da hanseníase. O objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar o comprometimento da força de preensão palmar em um delineamento observacional analítico, onde 50 pacientes de hanseníase inscritos no Programa de Controle de Hanseníase do Distrito Federal foram comparados com 50 sujeitos saudáveis. Para a avaliação da força de preensão palmar utilizou-se o dinamômetro hidráulico de mão - Jamar®. Os resultados sobre medidas de performance da força de preensão palmar entre os portadores de hanseníase em relação ao grupo de indivíduos saudáveis foram significativos (p<0,05).
