Resumo: The author presents the definition of primarily neural leprosy, describes it clinically and exposes the differentiation among the similar neuropathies. The main causes of mononeuropathies, multiple mononeuropathies and polineuropathies that can be misinterpreted as leprosy were discussed. The role of nerve biopsy in the diagnosis confirmation and its prevailing findings were presented. And finally, there were suggestions of the procedures for health workers when facing these patients on the field.
