The Paretian Procrustean bed: essay on the dynamics of intervention in the supplementary health sector

Resumo: The article intends to clarify the root cause of problems in the Brazilian health sector derived from interventionist policies set by its regulatory agencies. By assessing the contextual and historical reasons identified for the origin of said institutional bodies, the author seeks to examine the philosophical and economic theorems that undergird the policies that affect this specific market. Thus, the author makes a critic comparison of the neoclassical Paretian models of static allocative efficiency, contrasted with insights provided by the Austrian School of Economics concerning the negative unintended consequences that characterize the dynamic of interventionism.

Al examinar las identificadas razones y contextos históricos sobre el origen de dichos órganos institucionales el autor trata  de determinar los teoremas filosóficos y económicos que estructuran las políticas intervencionistas en el mercado específico. Para tal, se establece una comparación crítica entre los modelos neoclásicos paretianos de eficiencia relacionada estática y las intelecciones de la Escuela Austríaca de Economía referentes a las negativas consecuencias no previstas que caracterizan la dinámica del intervencionismoO presente artigo pretende esclarecer a causa-raiz dos problemas no setor de saúde suplementar de saúde brasileira derivados das políticas intervencionistas estabelecidas pelas agências reguladoras. Ao examinar as identificadas razões e contextos históricos para a gênese de ditos órgãos institucionais o autor busca determinar os teoremas filosóficos e econômicos que estruturam as políticas intervencionistas no mercado específico.
