Why do We Need a State? : Justifying Coercion

Resumo: This article investigates the motivations for State interventions inside moral, political and economic spheres. If historically the conflicts between State power and individual liberty are generated in abundance, on the other hand, the justifications remain, even in today’s time, as being rationally relevant. Do we really need a State? Is the protection received worth the lost individual liberty? We propose ourselves to investigate such a coercive institution. The main objective is to expose State action and work inside its rationalities. This investigation has as its method the hypothetical-deductive, and makes use of the technic of bibliographical research. Such analysis is of great importance as a means to understand the figure of the State amid the political crisis that surrounds many contemporary countries.

Si históricamente los conflictos entre el poder del Estado y la libertad individual se generan en abundancia, sus justificaciones siguen siendo, incluso en la actualidad como racionalmente relevantes. ¿Realmente necesitamos un Estado? ¿Vale la protección recibida la libertad individual perdida? Nos proponemos investigar tal institución coercitiva. El objetivo principal es exponer la acción del Estado y el trabajo dentro de sus racionalidades. Esta investigación tiene como método el hipotético-deductivo, y hace uso de la técnica de investigación bibliográfica. Tal análisis es de gran importancia como un medio para comprender la figura del Estado en la crisis política que rodea a muchos países contemporáneos.Este artigo investiga o que motiva o Estado a se fazer presentes nas esferas moral, política e econômica. Se historicamente os conflitos entre liberdade individual e poder estatal foram gerados em abundância, por outro lado, as justificativas permanecem, mesmo nos dias de hoje, sendo racionalmente relevantes. Por que precisamos de um Estado? A proteção recebida legitima o possível decréscimo em liberdade individual? Nós propomos investigar tal instituição coercitiva. O objetivo base é expor a ação de Estado e trabalhar dentro de suas racionalidades. Esta investigação tem como método o hipotético-dedutivo, e faz uso da técnica de pesquisa bibliográfica.
