Resumo: This work reports experimental analyses of a visible light communication (VLC) system using the new standard for the fifth generation of mobile networks (5G NR). The proposed system is based on the use of directly-modulated light emitting diodes (LEDs) to transmit signals to line-of-sight free space links. Four optical carriers, from a RGBA (red, green, blue, and amber) LED, were individually evaluated, aiming to deploy a high-throughput system based on different colors. The system performance investigation has been realized in terms of root mean square error vector magnitude (EVMRMS) and as a function of the LED bias currents, link length and throughput. In order to compensate the electric amplifiers non-linear response, the digital pre-distortion (DPD) technique has been implemented in an M-QAM signal. At 75 cm, 872 Mbit/s and 1.92 Gbit/s throughput were obtained with the 5G NR standard and DPD-based MQAM signal, respectively. In addition, a simultaneous transmission of different waveforms has been analyzed using a single access point, with the purpose of enabling multiple technologies in the same indoor environment. Finally, the carrier aggregation concept was proposed and demonstrated in an optical attocell.

O sistema proposto baseia-se no uso de diodos emissores de luz (LED ??? light emission diode), modulados diretamente para transmiss??o de sinais no espa??o livre em enlaces de visada direta. Avaliou-se quatro portadoras ??pticas, presentes no LED RGBA (red, green, blue and amber), e implementou-se um sistema de alta vaz??o por meio da t??cnica de multiplexa????o de comprimentos de onda. As an??lises de desempenho foram realizadas em tempo real em termos de EVMRMS (root mean square error vector magnitude), seguindo as especifica????es t??cnicas do 3GPP (3th Generation Partnership Project) e em fun????o dos seguintes par??metros: corrente de polariza????o do LED, dist??ncia do enlace e vaz??o efetiva. Visando compensar a resposta n??o linear dos amplificadores el??tricos empregados no enlace VLC WDM, implementou-se a t??cnica pr??-distor????o digital (DPD - digital predistortion) em um sinal M-QAM. Obteve-se 872 Mbit/s com o sinal 5G NR e 1,92 Gbit/s com o sinal M-QAM em conjunto com t??cnica DPD. Al??m disso, analisouse a transmiss??o simultaneamente de diferentes formas de ondas por um ??nico ponto de acesso, objetivando atender diversas tecnologias em um mesmo ambiente interno.
