Resumo: This is a qualitative study addressing the pre-operative educational activity with laryngostomized patients through the Pedagogy of Problematization – The Arch Method, which consists of the observation of reality, key-point, theorization, solution hypotheses, and application to reality phases. As a result of its dynamic and flexible nature, it was possible to meet the needs presented by the five patients included in the study, who evaluated positively the experience. The need for the development of interpersonal skills by nurses dealing with different therapeutic situations during educational activities became evident.

The need for the development of interpersonal skills by nurses dealing with different therapeutic situations during educational activities became evident.Trata-se de estudo qualitativo com o objetivo de planejar, implementar e avaliar a ação educativa pré-operatória aos pacientes laringectomizados baseada no método do arco, constituído pelas etapas de observação da realidade, ponto-chave, teorização, hipóteses de solução e aplicação à realidade. Utilizaram-se entrevistas informais em abordagem individualizada e pautada no relacionamento interpessoal centrado no paciente enquanto educando, mantendo a postura de educadora enquanto facilitadora da aprendizagem. Como estratégia para fornecer subsídios teóricos e práticos específicos, identificados como necessários pelo paciente, empregou-se um álbum seriado, folheto de orientação e materiais como cânula de traqueostomia, sondas e drenos. Decorrente de seu caráter dinâmico e flexível, foi possível o atendimento das necessidades apresentadas pelos cinco pacientes incluídos neste estudo, que avaliaram de forma positiva a experiência. Ficou evidente a necessidade do desenvolvimento de habilidades interpessoais da enfermeira para lidar com as diferentes situações terapêuticas durante as atividades de ensino.
