Tabagismo entre médicos e enfermeiros: uma abordagem sobre seu uso

Resumo: We carried out a research about the smoking habit because we observed the persistence of this bad habit among doctors and nurses, in spite of knowing all the harms and illnesses caused by the smoking habit to the healthy. The aim of this study was to identify the number of smoking people and which factors took them to start and persist in this bad habit. The date were caught on september/92, through a questionnaire done with doctors and nurses from the Hospital de Clínicas and Faculdade de Enfermagem e Nutrição da Universidade Federal de Goiás. After studying the date we concluded that there is a relatively low rate of smoking people with a predominance among the nurses. They started smoking because extra-familiar social influences and they are still smoking because of the habit. We observed a list of illnesses that have a great relationship with the habit of smoking but if wasn't enough to change their minds to stop the bad habit of smoking.

Os dados foram obtidos em setembro/92, mediante questionário aplicado aos médicos e enfermeiros do Hospital de Clínicas e Faculdade de Enfermagem e Nutrição da Universidade Federal de Goiás (GO). Constatamos um número relativamente baixo de fumantes, com predomínio entre enfermeiros. Aderiram ao hábito por influência do grupo social extrafamiliar e persistem no mesmo devido ao vício.
