Resumo: The Author, after stressing the complexity of bone pathology, due to the number of lesions which give rise to tumors, studies the proposed classifications, especially the one which refers to the sarcomas, object of the present article. He also shows the register of bone sarcomas instituted by the American College of Surgeons and adopted by the Serviço Nacional de Câncer. The difficulties of the differential diagnosis between the various bone diseases are shown and demonstration of the importance of the clinical, radiologic, and histoloqic examinations are given. The Author also presents a classification into four different types which are studied separately giving up the subdivisions always full-of difficulties. He describes individually each of the four types of sarcomas like the osteogenic, Ewinq's giant celis, myeloma and secondary tuniors, pointing out the diferences existent among them under a clinical and therapeutic point of view. He also gives examples of each of these bone turnors from the files of the S. N. C. deinonstratinq the difficulties of diagnosis with syphilis of the bones. Finally he studies the importance of biopsy in bone tumors, discussing the pro and con factors of this method of diagnosis.

Finally he studies the importance of biopsy in bone tumors, discussing the pro and con factors of this method of diagnosis.O autor, após ressaltar a complexidade do problema da patologia óssea, devido à multiplicidade de tecidos que originam os tumores dos ossos, estuda as classificações propostas, especialmente à referente aos sarcomas, que constitui objeto do presente trabalho.
