Bibliographical studies on Brazilian publications related to psychosocial aspects of childhood câncer, in the period fron 1980 to 1997

Resumo: This is a bibliographical study on Brazilian publications related to psychosocial aspects of childhood câncer, from 1980 to 1997. The aim is to analyse the research developed in Brazil, besides the verification of the used methods and the possible existing gaps in the area. The sources of data were the following ones: national periodicals, proceedings of meetings and symposia on the area, Brazilian congresses of nursing and psychology and computerized data bases. Pieces of work which were translated and/or published in the summary form were not considered in this study. The analysis of the results is based on the references of the qualitative research. In general, the studies look for a comprehension of the experience of the people involved with childhood câncer: child, family, hospital staff. The research reveal that the disease embraces several aspects (physical, social, psychological) and that the care to the child should be global (physical/ psychological/ social).

Tem o objetivo de obter uma visão do que está sendo pesquisado e divulgado no Brasil, além da verificação de possíveis lacunas existentes na área e dos métodos de trabalho utilizados. As fontes de dados foram as seguintes: periódicos nacionais, anais de encontros e simpósios da área, congressos brasileiros de enfermagem e psicologia e bases de dados informatizadas. Trabalhos traduzidos ou publicados na forma de resumo foram excluídos deste estudo. A análise dos resultados está pautada nos referenciais da pesquisa qualitativa. De modo geral, os estudos buscam compreender a experiência das pessoas envolvidas com o câncer infantil: criança, família e equipe hospitalar.
