Resumo: | Mannheim Peritonitis Index (MPI) is a scoring system with prognostic value usually applied to patients with peritonitis. It was performed an eight year analysis of medical records from eighty-nine patients with peritonitis and malignant underlying disease who underwent surgical procedures. The mean MPI score was 26.6 points (range 5-47), with a sensitivity of 87.3%, and a specificity of 41.2%. The best accuracy (69.7%) was reached at score of 21. In conclusion, the MPI was a reliable predictor of death in oncologic patients with peritonitis and can be helpful in planning and evaluating future treatments. |
