Present Situation of the Gynecologycal Cancer in Brazil

Resumo: An epidemiological study about the Present Condition of the Gynecological Cancer in Brazil is presented. The data, collected in Recife and São Paulo Cancer Registry, demonstrated the high morbidity and mortality frequency on Cervico-Uterine Cancer. For developing the activity of Cancer Control, the National Division of Cancer feit the necessity of setting up a structure and training the medicai and paramedical personnel for the Program of Prevention. Due to this, the National Division of Cancer, through its Service of Programming and Technical Orientation established courses of several kinds. Later on, the Prevention Programs were implanted in Brazil being the Control of Cervico-Uterine Cancer carried out as a Public Health activity. Lately, the Program of Pernambuco was evaluated and the resuits demonstrated its feasibility.

Os dados coletados nos Registros de Câncer de Recife e São Paulo demonstram a elevada freqüência de morbidade e mortalidade por Câncer Cérvico-Uterino. Para desenvolver a atividade de Controle do Câncer, a Divisão Nacional de Câncer sentiu a necessidade de criar uma estrutura para o Programa de Prevenção e qualificar pessoal médico e não médico. Em face às necessidades identificadas, o Serviço de Programação e Orientação Técnica da Divisão Nacional de Câncer instituiu cursos de várias naturezas. Posteriormente, os Programas de Prevenção foram implantados no Brasil, sendo a atividade de controle de câncer cérvico-uterino desenvolvida com as demais de Saúde Pública.
