Resumo: The Author makes preliminary considerations on the liver architecture according to the ideas presented by Rappaport and points out the functional differences observed between the two zones of the liver acinus. To demonstrate the truth of these propositions the thioacetamide intoxication has been studied in its morphological and dynamic aspects. The Author also studies and discuss the influence of the endocrine imbalance upon the liver regeneration and concludes by making the suggestion that the stimulus that initiates regeneration in the liver might well be the relative excess of circulating hormones and metabolites that follows a partial hepatectomy or a damage to the liver parenchyma.
