Resumo: | Coronavirus (Covid-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Data released by the World Health Organization (WHO) showed that until July 2022, there were 577 million cases in the world, with 6.4 million leading to death, and in Brazil, in the same period, there were 33,813,587 cases, evolving to death 678,486. Individuals affected by the disease, hospitalized in a serious condition, were assisted by health professionals, called front-line professionals, in order to promote recovery in the fight against the disease. This work aims to describe the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic on health professionals. This is a literature review study with a narrative approach, developed from four stages. The period chosen for the analysis involved articles published between 2020 and 2022, and the search was carried out in July 2022. This literature review is divided into 02 blocks: the first addresses the psychological problems of the health professional and the second mentions the damages caused by prolonged use of personal protective equipment (PPE). As a result, direct care professionals, in addition to expressing physical exhaustion due to the exhausting workload, manifested internal conditions of anxiety, depression, bournot, chemical dependence and mental exhaustion, in addition to the uncertain fear if they would return home without being contaminated. As an external consequence, the prolonged use of personal protective equipment (PPE) caused injuries to the skin of these professionals, most of them on the face due to the use of masks and goggles. Therefore, it was observed that the effects of the pandemic on health professionals were not only psychological, but also physical. |
