Resumo: The objective of this research is to analyze and compare hip joint flexibility in exercising and non-exercising individuals. This study is characterized as cross-sectional and descriptive. Participated in the research 29 individuals practicing exercises (GPE) and not practicing exercises (GNP), with ages between 19 and 48 years of both genders. As research instruments, the flexibility protocol from Sanny's Fleximeter User Manual was used. There were four positions and movements used in the test, namely: flexion, extension, adduction, and abduction. The statistical treatment was performed using the SPSS® program, version 16.0. Student's t-test was used for statistical analysis and the significance level adopted was p<0.05. At all moments, it was possible to analyze that the GPE obtained higher flexibility numbers than the PNG, however, showing significance only for adduction (p<0.001). It is concluded that individuals who practice physical exercises obtain higher flexibility values compared to sedentary individuals. Thus, it is necessary to stimulate the practice of regular physical exercise, not only to achieve higher values of flexibility, but as a useful tool for health care and performing activities of daily living.

Este estudio se caracteriza por ser transversal y descriptivo. Participaron en la investigación 29 individuos practicantes de ejercicios (GPE) y no practicantes de ejercicios (GNP), con edades comprendidas entre 19 y 48 años de ambos sexos. Los instrumentos de investigación utilizados fueron el protocolo de flexibilidad del Manual de Usuario del Fleximetro Sanny. En la prueba se utilizaron cuatro posiciones y movimientos, a saber: flexión, extensión, aducción y abducción. El tratamiento estadístico se realizó con el programa SPSS®, versión 16.0. Para el análisis estadístico se utilizó la prueba t de Student y el nivel de significación adoptado fue p<0,05. En todos los momentos, se pudo analizar que el GPE obtuvo mayores números de flexibilidad que el PNB, sin embargo, mostrando significación sólo para la aducción (p<0,001). Se concluye que los individuos que practican ejercicios físicos obtienen valores de flexibilidad más altos en comparación con los individuos sedentarios. Por ello, es necesario estimular la práctica de ejercicio físico regular, no sólo para alcanzar mayores valores de flexibilidad, sino como herramienta útil para el cuidado de la salud y la realización de actividades de la vida diaria.O objetivo desta pesquisa foi analisar e comparar a flexibilidade da articulação do quadril em indivíduos praticantes e não praticantes de exercícios físicos. Este estudo está caracterizado como de corte transversal e descritivo. Participaram da pesquisa 29 indivíduos praticantes (GPE) e não praticantes de exercícios (GNP), com idades entre 19 a 48 anos de ambos os gêneros. Como instrumentos de pesquisa foi utilizado o protocolo de flexibilidade do Manual de Utilização do Flexímetro da Sanny. Foram procedidas quatro posições e movimentos utilizados no teste, sendo eles: flexão, extensão, adução e abdução. O tratamento estatístico foi realizado por intermédio do programa SPSS®, versão 16.0. Para análise estatística foi utilizado Teste “T de Student” e o nível de significância adotado foi p<0,05. Em todos os momentos, foi possível analisar que o GPE obteve números de flexibilidade maiores que o GNP, no entanto, mostrando-se significância somente para adução (p<0,001). Conclui-se nesta pesquisa que os indivíduos que praticam exercícios físicos obtêm maiores valores de flexibilidade comparado com indivíduos sedentários.
