THE DECLINE OF TELEOLOGY IN HUMAN NATURE: A KEY TO THE CRISIS OF BIOETHICS ACCORDING TO RATZINGER

Resumo: Through the writings of Joseph Ratzinger, we present an analytical proposal on the current bioethical crisis. The damage being done to the inviolability of human life and its dignity demands not only effective social action to protect them, but also the establishment of a core diagnosis from which a treatment can be devised to remedy the crisis at its root. Ratzingerian thought offers this, addressing both the causes of the crisis and its resolution. Its key proposal is to rescue a theologized concept of nature that restores the inviolable sacredness of human life.
