Analysis of the Determinants of Dairy Productivity of the Municipalities in the West Mesoregion of Paraná

Resumo: The milk activity in Brazil is characterized by large disparities in productivity betweendifferent regions and between farms. Given this, the present study performs an analysis ofmilk productivity in the West of Paraná, which also presents great heterogeneity regardingmilk activity. Using preliminary data from the 2017 Agricultural Census, provided by BrazilianInstitute of Geography and Statistics – IBGE, an econometric regression is performed toidentify which, among economic and technical factors, are the determinants of dairyproductivity. As main results it was observed that the technical orientation is one of thefactors that can most impact on the increase of milk productivity, besides a minimum level of education necessary for the property manager. Factors such as producer age and pasturearea were not statistically significant and some factors considered important in the literaturecould not be analyzed due to the nature of the data.

Ante ello, el presente estudio realizaun análisis de la productividad de la leche en el Oeste de Paraná, que también presentauna gran heterogeneidad. Utilizando datos preliminares del Censo Agropecuario 2017, delInstituto Brasileño de Geografía y Estadística (IBGE), se realiza una regresión econométricapara identificar cuáles, entre los factores económicos y técnicos, son los determinantes dela productividad de los lácteos. Como resultados principales, se observó que la orientacióntécnica es uno de los factores que más pueden impactar en el aumento de la productividadde la leche, además del nivel mínimo de educación necesario para el administradorde la propiedad. Factores como la edad del productor y el área de pastoreo no fueronestadísticamente significativos y algunos elementos considerados importantes en la literaturano se pudieron analizar debido a la naturaleza de los datos.A atividade leiteira no Brasil é caracterizada por grandes disparidades com relação àprodutividade entre diferentes regiões e entre estabelecimentos. Diante disso, o presenteestudo realiza uma análise da produtividade de leite no Oeste paranaense, a qual tambémapresenta grande heterogeneidade. Utilizando-se os dados preliminares do CensoAgropecuário 2017, disponibilizados pelo IBGE, realiza-se uma regressão econométrica afim de identificar quais, dentre os fatores econômicos e técnicos, são os determinantes daprodutividade leiteira. Como principais resultados, observou-se que a orientação técnica éum dos fatores que mais podem impactar no aumento da produtividade de leite, além deum nível de escolaridade mínimo necessário para o gestor da propriedade.
