Resumo: The text aims to analyze the multiplying effects that the oil industry is able to impel,  and the Brazilian economy is taken as empirical reference. It begins introducing the main arguments concerning the relation between that industry and development. Subsequently, the new frontiers opened by the discovery of large oil reserves in the pre-salt layers of the Brazilian continental shelf are approached. The third and last item of the text presents the effects that the mentioned discoveries have already been causing to the oil business related industry, to technological research advances and to labor force qualification. The text is closed with a caution advice, since the pre-salt reserves give the country the possibility to offer income increase and thousands of jobs to future generations, as well as the capacity to strengthen local capital through the formation of new companies. However, all this wealth may not be turned into a lever that gets the country out of the emerging condition. A frustrating scenario may occur through the frivolous employment of this wealth by our elected officials, combined to public unawareness and indifference.

Empieza presentando los argumentos principales que se refieren a las relaciones entre esta industria y el desarrollo. Luego, se discuten las nuevas fronteras abiertas por los descubrimientos de ricos yacimientos en la camada del “pre-sal” en la plataforma continental marítima brasileña. En el tercer y último capítulo se presentan los efectos que dichos descubrimientos causan en la industria petrolera, en el desarrollo de la investigación tecnológica y en la calificación de mano de obra. El texto termina con una advertencia, ya que las reservas de la camada del “pre-sal” dan al país la posibilidad de garantizar a las próximas generaciones la oportunidad de oferta de miles de puestos de trabajo, el incremento de generacióne ingresos, así como el fortalecimiento del capital local con la creación de nuevas empresas. Sin embargo, toda la riqueza puede no serrevertida en una palanca para que Brasil salga de la condición de país emergente, si los recursos no son invertidos con seriedad por nuestros dirigentes, que no deben de ser conniventes con el desconocimiento y la indiferencia de la mayoría de la población brasileña sobre un tema de gran importancia nacional.O texto tem como propósito analisar os efeitos multiplicadores que a indústria petrolífera é capaz de desencadear em uma dada economia e para tal toma como referência empírica a economia brasileira. Inicia-se apresentando os principais argumentos referentes às relações entre essa indústria e o desenvolvimento. A seguir são discutidas as novas fronteiras abertas pelas descobertas de ricas jazidas na camada do pré-sal na plataforma continental marítima brasileira. No terceiro e último item são então apresentados os efeitos que tais descobertas já vêm provocando na indústria para-petrolífera, no avanço da pesquisa tecnológica e na qualificação de mão de obra. Encerra-se o texto com uma advertência, pois, as reservas da camada de pré-sal abrem ao País a possibilidade de garantir às próximas gerações a oportunidade da oferta de milhares de postos de trabalho, o aumento da geração de renda, bem como o fortalecimento do capital local com a formação de novas empresas.
