Resumo: Nowadays, the PRT-163 highway connects Toledo municipality to Marechal Cândido Rondon  municipality (State of Paraná) which were formerly connected by PR-239, where the municipalities of Quatro Pontes, Novo Sarandi and Vila Nova are located; they are also connected to Toledo. After the end of PRT-163 highway works, the distance between Toledo and Marechal Cândido Rondon was shortened by 17 km. Using primary data collected in Quatro Pontes, Novo Sarandi and Vila Nova, the present article tries to analyze whether or not there is the possibility of some economic and social impacts on these areas due to the redirectionong of part of vehicle flow from PR-239 to PRT-163. As a result we inferred that there will be minimum financial losses from this new traffic directioning, and besides that, such losses  will be compensated by the gains in the quality of life of those municipalities

Com o acabamento das obras da rodovia PRT-163, o trajeto entre Toledo e Marechal Cândido Rondon foi encurtado em cerca de 17 quilômetros. Por meio de levantamento de dados primários nos núcleos de Quatro Pontes, Novo Sarandi e Vila Nova, este artigo procura analisar se há ou não a possibilidade de ocorrer algum impacto econômico e social nesses centros em função da reorientação de boa parte do fluxo de veículos da PR-239 para a PRT-163.
