Resumo: Based on expert examinations, the procedure for identifying people has been relevant with regard to the clarification of facts in the legal-social sphere. The aim of this study is to verify sexual dimorphism and estimate age, examining dry tibia using linear measurements. 161 dry tibiae were used, 63 of which were female and 98 were male, all over 20 years of age. For the present study, the following linear measurements were taken: medial condyle distance to the lateral condyle (cmcl), medial condyle distance to the tibial tuberosity (cmt), lateral condyle distance to the tibial tuberosity (clt) and a triangular area from these measurements (at). The analysis of variance of the data showed that the male individuals had means of the variables greater than those of the female sex. According to the t test, there was a significant difference between the means of all variables (p: <0.0001). Through the Discriminant Analysis, there was a hit rate of 76.60% for women and 66.33% for men, with a total hit rate of 71.47%. Through logistic regression, an agreement rate of 78.6% was reached. According to the data, it was found that the age prediction model was not significant for the variables studied (p: 0.1358). It was concluded that the applied methodology can contribute to the success of researches that guide the investigation of sex and age within the scope of Legal Medicine, mainly when associated with other techniques existing in the literature.
