Occupational Therapy: Mental Health Care of Workers at a University Hospital in a Pandemic Context

Resumo: | The mental health of health workers requires special attention. The occupational therapist, a professional active in the health and safety of workers, promotes quality of life at work. The aim of this article was to report the experience of Occupational Therapy in the mental health care of workers in a university hospital in northeastern Brazil, during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is an experience report, whose data collection instruments were participant observation and the registration form of practices. Results and Discussion: The practices carried out were based on Integrative and Complementary Practices in Health and other techniques, such as sensory stimulation. Adherence, demand, and positive feedback demonstrated the importance of care and application of this practice. Conclusion: Mental health care strategies for health workers are necessary not only in times of a pandemic, to improve their quality of life and, consequently, optimize the provision of services to the community |

O terapeuta ocupacional, profissional atuante na saúde e segurança do trabalhador, promove ações de qualidade de vida no trabalho. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi relatar a experiência da Terapia Ocupacional no cuidado à saúde mental de trabalhadores em um hospital universitário do nordeste brasileiro, na pandemia da COVID-19. Trata-se de relato de experiência, cujos instrumentos de coleta de dados foram a observação participante e o formulário de registro das práticas. Resultados: As práticas realizadas fundamentaram-se nas Práticas Integrativas e Complementares em Saúde e outras técnicas, como a estimulação sensorial. A adesão, procura e feedbacks positivos demonstraram a importância do cuidado e aplicação dessa prática.
