Resumo: This study aims to analyze the perception of Family Health Strategy (FHS) professionals regarding the care of individuals with suicidal behavior. Conducted in four teams, it is descriptive exploratory qualitative research that collected data through semi-structured interviews, analyzed using thematic content analysis. The results were organized into seven subcategories, divided into two categories: "Meaning of suicidal behavior for FHS professionals" and "Work in FHS and attention to suicidal behavior." Healthcare professionals recognize the complexity of preventing suicide within the FHS and make efforts to identify risk factors and suicidal behaviors. However, many of them do not feel adequately prepared for this role. Mental health actions directed at individuals with suicidal behavior within the FHS are modest, highlighting the need to enhance understanding and engagement with the meanings of suicide and its prevention.
