THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE NURSING TEAM OF A MATERIAL AND STERILIZATION CENTER IN RESPECT OF OCCUPATIONAL RISKS RELATED TO THE PROCESS OF CLEANING OF HOSPITAL MEDICAL ARTICLES

Resumo: Objectives: to evaluate the nursing team's understanding of a material and sterilization center regarding the occupational hazards related to the process of cleaning hospital medical articles; to identify the occupational risks that the nursing team is exposed during the process of cleaning the medical and hospital articles in the material and sterilization center and to investigate the self-care mechanisms used by the nursing team that work in a CME to reduce the incidence of related events occupational risks during the process of cleaning medical hospital articles. Methodology: This is a descriptive and exploratory field research with quantitative approach, which was performed at the CME of a private hospital in the Federal District. The data were collected through an individual interview, using a questionnaire with 13 closed questions elaborated by the researcher using the available literature. The study sample consisted of 22 nursing professionals working in the Receiving and Cleaning Room (CME). Results: The research shows that (100%) of the CME nursing professionals are aware of the risks they are exposed during the process of cleaning medical hospital articles. Conclusion: it is concluded that the CME nursing professionals are exposed to biological, physical, chemical, ergonomic and psychological risks. In this CME environment, the importance of self-care mechanisms through preventive behavior in the use of PPE is evidenced in order to avoid infectious and contagious diseases and occupational injuries in which the nursing professional is susceptible during the exposure of occupational hazards present in their environment. work and in their work activities.

Metodologia: Trata-se de uma pesquisa de campo descritiva e exploratória com abordagem quantitativa, que foi realizada na CME de um hospital privado do DF. Os dados foram coletados mediante uma entrevista individual, utilizando-se um questionário com 13 perguntas fechadas elaboradas pela pesquisadora utilizando a literatura disponível. A amostra do estudo foram 22 profissionais de enfermagem que atuam na Sala de recebimento e limpeza dos artigos de uma (CME).  Resultados: A pesquisa demonstra que (100%) dos profissionais de enfermagem da CME têm consciência dos riscos que estão expostos durante o processo de limpeza dos artigos médicos hospitalares. Conclusão: conclui-se que os profissionais de enfermagem da CME estão expostos aos riscos biológicos, físicos, químicos, ergonômicos e psicológicos.
