Resumo: During pregnancy, a woman goes through several physical and emotional modifications, changes occur in almost all systems, including the musculoskeletal system. By practicing the Pilates Method, pregnant women receive as benefits the improvement of pain in the lumbar and pelvic regions, since the practice provides joint, muscular, and ligament stability. This report had as its general objective to present the creation of a group to promote the practice of the Pilates Method for pregnant women by a nursing and physical therapy professional, and as specific objectives to describe the observations of the group experience held with pregnant women and show the benefits of the Pilates Method. This is a descriptive and qualitative study of the type experience report developed by a nurse and a physiotherapist, residents at the Multiprofessional Residency Program in Primary Care, of the School of Government from Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (FIOCRUZ), with the setting of a Primary Care Unit in the administrative region of Recanto das Emas in Brasília, Federal District. All the pregnant women assisted and chosen for the group had common complaints. After the group was over, the pregnant women were reevaluated individually in their respective prenatal appointments, and this reevaluation was based only on the verbal reports they brought, such as: reduction of lower back pain and pelvic pain, postural improvements, besides affirming greater flexibility and lightness, benefits already identified by other authors who used the Pilates Method as group therapy. The Pilates Method proved to be an efficient alternative for the reduction of complaints presented by pregnant women, and also an important tool to improve their quality of life. The interprofessional work is extremely important within the Primary Health Care (PHC), and for it to occur in practice it is common to create bonds between the professionals involved, so that there is a greater resolution of health problems and demands. Therefore, it was possible to bring a method that is primarily inaccessible to the economically disadvantaged population, inserting the method in a public setting belonging to the Unified Health System (SUS) enabling to be democratized even if for a short period of time.

Therefore, it was possible to bring a method that is primarily inaccessible to the economically disadvantaged population, inserting the method in a public setting belonging to the Unified Health System (SUS) enabling to be democratized even if for a short period of time.
