Resumo: | Introduction: Sexual intercourse during pregnancy does not pose a risk to the pregnancy, however, it is crucial to consider the possibility of contracting Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) that could harm pregnancy or be transmitted vertically. Objective: Evaluate studies regarding the challenges encountered by nurses in relation to STIs during pregnancy. Method: This is an integrative review of the literature, developed in six steps, using the PICo strategy to develop the following guiding question: What are the nursing challenges in managing Sexually Transmitted Infections during pregnancy? The search was carried out in the databases LILACS (Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences), PUBMED (National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health), BDENF (Nursing Database) and used the Boolean operators AND and OR. The following inclusion criteria were used: articles published in Portuguese and English, in the period between 2018 and 2023, primary studies that only addressed pregnant women. Result: 416 articles were found in the databases, after the inclusion, exclusion and full reading criteria, only 7 studies remained for analysis. Discussion: The analysis of the selected articles showed that there are several factors that contribute to non-adherence to condoms, however, the nursing professional has great importance in monitoring these pregnant women and integrating the partner in this process, in addition to preventive interventions in overcoming barriers and training of women to adopt preventive measures during pregnancy. Conclusion: Nursing professionals should invest in awareness-raising strategies, especially during prenatal care, with the aim of promoting the empowerment of pregnant women, control of their sexuality and adoption of safer choices. |
