The importance of nurses' performance in peritoneal dialysis care: integrative review

Objective: to review in the literature the complications resulting from the treatment and the importance of the nurse's role in the care or conduct provided to patients on peritoneal dialysis. Method: this is an integrative narrative literature review, which aims to synthesize results obtained in research on a topic, in a systematic, orderly and comprehensive manner. The databases used were the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCielo) and Google Scholar, as well as the Nursing Database (BDENF). The search was carried out between July 2022 and September 2022, and the articles were selected in full, in Portuguese and in original format, the year of publication comprises the years 2016 to 2022 used in the discussion. Regarding the results, 9 articles were found that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Conclusion: In this way, we found that both coping, and difficulties have influences that will be caused by the new lifestyle that these patients will experience. For this reason, it is necessary that there are always guidelines provided by the nursing team and that they are constant. As a conclusion of the study, it is highlighted the fact that there are not many studies with this theme in the scientific literature, which limited the broad discussion on the topic. In this sense, it is suggested to carry out new studies and research that can corroborate with the subject.
