Objective: Understand the importance of nurses' performance in integrated care in oncology and, additionally, to raise the implications of nursing education and training for the care of these patients. Method: Integrative review of exploratory nature of national and international scientific articles published between 2015 and 2020. Results: In the analysis and selection of ten articles, we found that the vast majority of studies indicated that nurses have an extremely relevant role in cancer units, essentially because their practice involves promoting quality of life of patients and family members in integrated care. Another aspect observed was the deficiency in the academic education of nurses, implying a lack of preparation for professional practice with cancer patients.
