SLEEP: RISK FACTOR FOR THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF THE HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL

Resumo: | Objective: To demonstrate how non-restorative sleep can trigger pathologies that put the health professional is quality of life at risk. It also aims to show the importance of treating sleep to prevent future pathologies that may jeopardize the health professional's quality of life. Methodology: a search was made in a virtual health database of publications, from 2013 to 2020, presented in the Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Information System - LILACS, Scientific Electronic Library Online - SciELO, National Library of Medicine - MEDLINE; Nursing Databases - BDENF. The descriptors were used: Excessive Sleepiness Disorders, risk factor and quality of life. Results: based on the assessment of sleep quality and the perception of quality of life, the health professional who works at night has a greater compromise in the quality of sleep and thus is dissatisfied with his quality of life in relation to the professional who he works during the day, which has better quality of sleep, being more satisfied with his quality of life. Conclusion: hospitals have responsibilities regarding the physical and mental health of night workers, as nurses' sleep patterns need to be improved, as well as the quality of life of these professionals. |

Visa também mostrar a importância de se tratar o sono para prevenir futuras patologias que podem pôr em risco a qualidade de vida do profissional de saúde. Metodologia: foi feita uma busca em base de dados virtuais em saúde, das publicações, do período de 2013 até 2020, apresentadas no Sistema Latino-Americano e do Caribe de informação em Ciências da Saúde - LILACS, Scientific Electronic Library Online – SciELO, National Library of Medicine – MEDLINE; Bancos de Dados em Enfermagem - BDENF. Foram utilizados os descritores: Transtornos da Sonolência Excessiva, fator de risco e qualidade de vida. Resultados: a partir da avaliação da qualidade do sono e da percepção da qualidade de vida, o profissional de saúde que trabalha no período noturno apresenta maior comprometimento na qualidade do sono e assim apresenta-se insatisfeito com sua qualidade de vida em relação ao profissional que trabalha no período diurno, o qual possui melhor qualidade de sono, estando mais satisfeito com sua qualidade de vida. Conclusão: os hospitais tem responsabilidades quanto à saúde física e mental dos trabalhadores noturnos, pois os padrões de sono dos enfermeiros precisam ser melhorados, assim como a qualidade de vida desses profissionais.
