This study examines the mental health of women who professionally occupy military contexts. With the increasing representation of women in these contexts, it is crucial to understand how the military experience can affect women's mental health differently from men. The main objective of this work is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the challenges related to the mental health of women who professionally occupy military contexts, highlighting the need for gender-centered approaches and specific psychological support programs for these women. The methodology involved a literature review, with access to a variety of sources, including books, academic articles, and other publications related to motherhood, women in military contexts, and gender issues. Relevant keywords were used, and the research was conducted in academic databases such as Scielo, Google Scholar, and PubMed. The results and discussions addressed various issues, including the evolution of women's roles in Brazilian society, regulations, and challenges for women in the workplace throughout history, and advances in achievements for gender equality. The study also explored the gradual entry of women into professional military contexts in Brazil and the specific challenges they face, such as sexual harassment. Furthermore, it discussed the dilemma of motherhood for women who occupy these contexts, highlighting the pressure to balance a military career with the responsibility of being a mother. It is concluded that the mental health of women who professionally occupy military contexts is a significant concern due to the unique challenges they face. Meeting the mental health needs of women in these contexts not only benefits their individual well-being but also contributes to a healthier and more effective work environment. Therefore, measures such as education, awareness, and effective public policies are crucial to ensure the necessary support for women who professionally occupy military contexts.
