The role of the nurse in the treatment of leprosy

Resumo: Objective: This study aims to emphasize the importance of the nurse, in view of adherence and effectiveness in the treatment of leprosy. Method: This is a literature review, which determines the synthesis of information from articles available in the literature, using a technique for analyzing the data found and evidenced by authors specialized in the subject. Results: The search in the databases described with a total amount of 36 in LILACS, 20 in BDENF and 23 in SCIELO. After reading the themes, 06 articles were chosen in LILACS, 05 in BDENF and 06 in SCIELO. Discussion: The nurse has a fundamental role in the tracking of leprosy for early diagnosis, actively acting in the treatment, with planning in health education actions focused on the reduction of disabilities and transmission, that is, the nurse must guide the importance of adherence to treatment. Conclusion: We conclude that nurses have an essential role in the treatment of leprosy, as they act proactively, carrying out nursing consultations.

Método: Trata-se de uma revisão de literatura, que determina síntese de informações de artigos disponíveis na literatura, utilizando-se de técnica para análise dos dados achados e evidenciado por autores especializados na temática. Resultados: A pesquisa nas bases de dados descritas com quantidade total de 36 no LILACS, 20 no BDENF e 23 no SCIELO. Após leitura dos temas, foram escolhidos 06 artigos no LILACS, 05 no BDENF e 06 no SCIELO. Discursão: O enfermeiro tem papel fundamental no rastreamento da hanseníase para diagnóstico precoce, atuando ativamente do tratamento, com planejamento nas ações de educação em saúde com foco na diminuição de incapacidades e transmissão, ou seja, o enfermeiro deve orientar a importância da adesão ao tratamento.
