Over the years, there has been an increase in cases of people infected with the HIV virus and, as a result, they require both treatment and monitoring of their clinical condition. Objective: to discuss nursing care and treatment offered to HIV patients. Methodology: The methodology used in this study is an integrative review of the literature with a descriptive approach, with content analysis as its primary characteristic, which synthesized and grouped the results obtained in important research on the topic outlined in previous articles. Result: 08 articles relevant to the chosen theme were synthesized. Conclusion: Nursing acts as a link between the patient and the medical team, facilitating communication and promoting understanding of the treatment. The ability to transmit information in a clear and empathetic way is essential for the patient to understand the importance of adhering to antiretroviral treatment and to manage possible side effects. Furthermore, nursing plays a fundamental educational role, providing information about virus transmission, preventive measures, and promoting self-care practices. Therefore, nursing is fundamental in the treatment of HIV+ patients, playing an integral role that goes beyond clinical responsibilities. The holistic approach, which encompasses physical, emotional and educational care.
