The significance of integrating preventive medicine into health promotion strategies

Preventive medicine includes primary prevention interventions, secondary and tertiary strategies that seek early detection and control of pathologies, and patient rehabilitation. In this sense, health promotion involves not only individual actions, but also community and government actions with the purpose of encouraging a healthy lifestyle. The active participation of the community, preventive and care services stand out as guidelines for the organization of the health system. In this context, the study aims to explore and highlight the relevance of incorporating preventive medicine into health promotion initiatives. Additionally, it uses an integrative literature review with research in the Google Scholar, Scielo and Pubmed databases. The descriptors explored were "preventive medicine", "health promotion" and "preventive health services" and all according to DeCS/MeSH (Health Sciences Descriptors). The integration of preventive medicine with health promotion is an effective strategy to prevent diseases, promote healthy lifestyles and improve overall well-being. PHC is essential for this integration, as it offers specific care measures that can be accessed by the entire population
