The importance of nursing care for the premature newborn received in the kangaroo method

Resumo: The kangaroo method aims to ensure skin-to-skin contact for low-weight newborns safely, close to the chest of the mother, father or support network, favoring humanized perinatal care. General Objective: to analyze current evidence on comprehensive care for premature newborns received using the kangaroo method. Method: integrative review, developed in five steps: (1) theme/question selection; (2) establishment of inclusion and exclusion criteria; (3) definition of the information to be extracted from the studies; (4) evaluation of studies and (5) interpretation of results based on publications in the last five years in the period from 2018 to 2023. Results: a search strategy was defined, so that 10 articles were selected. Discussion: it was observed that the Kangaroo Method is divided into 3 stages, which is recommended the presence of the mother and baby support network in all stages. Conclusion: based on these results, it is possible to affirm that the kangaroo method should be widely adopted, aiming at promoting the development of the newborn.

Objetivo geral: analisar as evidências atuais sobre a assistência integral ao recém-nascido prematuro acolhido no método canguru. Método: revisão integrativa, desenvolvida em cinco passos: (1) seleção do tema/pergunta; (2) estabelecimento de critérios de inclusão e exclusão; (3) definição das informações a serem extraídas dos estudos; (4) avaliação dos estudos e (5) interpretação dos resultados baseados em publicações nos últimos cinco anos no período de 2018 a 2022. Resultados: foi definida uma estratégia de busca, de modo que foram selecionados 07 artigos. Discussão: observou-se que o Método Canguru é dividido em três etapas, a qual é recomendada a presença da rede de apoio da mãe e bebê em todas as fases.
