Resumo: The present work sought to collect information about the knowledge and use of the boldo (Peumus boldus Molina), the World Health Organization reveals that 85% of the world's people use medicinal plants to treat diseases Ethnobotanical studies characterize local realities focusing on the interactions of human societies and the available plant resources. In the Northeast of Brazil, the use of medicinal plants as a therapeutic practice is a constant practice, which allows the integration of scientific and traditional discourses involving the cultural factors inherent in this region and their interpretation. The result of the research showed that the knowledge of the use of boldo as a phytotherapic, in gastric and digestive disorders, continues to pass from generation to generation. This statement shows that this type of popular knowledge that is so old remains alive and will perpetuate itself throughout our society.
