Resumo: | Introduction: Obesity is a chronic disease with increasing prevalence, characterized by excess fat in adipose tissues. The health team should provide a humanized, integral, equitable and empathetic care, to develop preventive and educational actions for the control of childhood obesity. Objective: To analyze current scientific evidence on the management and care of childhood obesity. Method: This consisted of an integrative literature review (ILR). The search strategy used five electronic databases CAPES Periodicals, LILACS, SCIELO, PUBMED and ELSEVIER. The criteria selected for the inclusion of the chosen articles were: time frame from 2018 to 2023, publications in journals (magazines) with Qualis A1-B3, articles in Portuguese-Brazilian and American English languages. The exclusion criteria were: papers without publication date, articles that were not in the context of the theme, languages other than Brazilian Portuguese and/or American English, and publications with only the abstract. Results and Discussions: Four categories were created from the Laurence Bardin's Content Analysis: Category I: Primary care in the care and support in the prevention of childhood obesity, Category II: Family constellations in the context of childhood obesity, Category III: Long-term health problems that obesity can cause to the child, Category IV: The health team in the treatment of childhood obesity. Conclusion: Obesity in childhood has consequences that may affect the individual's adult life both physically and psychologically. However, the health team can intervene in different ways, from primary care to the hospital network. |
