Resumo: Theme: the role of nurses in childbirth. Problem: what is the importance of nursing work during the procedures of humanized births? Hypothesis: humanized childbirth begins in the prenatal period, where all guidelines are given to the pregnant woman and her companion. Objectives: to analyze the relevance of understanding the quality of nursing care in childbirth and postpartum and its repercussions on women's health. Justification: in Brazil, the routine use of episiotomy and some type of obstetric violence is still abundant in labor, thus necessitating a change in the care provided to women. Methodology: This is a literature review. Results. Nursing understands humanization in childbirth as the ability to pay attention to the conditions and needs of the other. Hipótese: o parto humanizado se inicia desde o pré-natal, no qual todas as orientações são dadas à gestante e a seu acompanhante. Objetivos: analisar a relevância do entendimento sobre a qualidade da assistência de enfermagem no parto e pós parto e suas repercussões na saúde da mulher. Justificativa: no Brasil ainda é abundante, nos trabalhos de parto, o uso rotineiro da episiotomia e algum tipo de violência obstétrica, necessitando assim uma mudança no atendimento à mulher. Metodologia: Trata-se de revisão bibliográfica. Resultados.
