Resumo: Corneal diseases represent about 4% to 5% of the causes of reversible blindness in the world. Such diseases have several etiologies, which include chronic, degenerative, inflammatory, infectious, dystrophies and traumas. Corneal transplantation is a very important treatment for several types of severe corneal diseases, being considered one of the most important surgeries in ophthalmology as it is part of the individual's visual recovery. Objective: To present the performance of corneal transplantation in the state of Alagoas. Methods: Epidemiological, cross-sectional and retrospective study carried out using public data, obtained from ABTO (Brazilian Association of Organ Transplantation), through protocols based on registration forms, carried out from 2018 to 2022.Results: Regarding the frequency, 54% were male, while 46% were female, ranging from 50 to 64 years. The main indications for corneal transplantation were leucoma of any etiology (146.6%), bullous keratopathy (80%), keratoconus (63.9%). Conclusion: The results obtained revealed important information about the indications for transplantation, the number of surgeries performed, the demographic characteristics of the patients. It was identified that leucoma of any etiology was the main indication for corneal transplantation, followed by bullous kerotopathy and keratoconus. This information highlights the importance of early diagnosis and adequate treatment of these diseases in order to avoid the need for corneal transplantation.
