Resumo: The prevalence of pregnant women who develop gestational diabetes mellitus has been increasing worldwide. Thus, the implementation of pharmaceutical care programs for diabetic patients, based on individualized monitoring and education about the disease, is a very relevant topic to ensure the adherence of diabetic pregnant women to treatment, improving their quality of life. This study aims to consider the importance of Pharmaceutical Care and report the positive results of care and pharmacological care for women diagnosed with gestational diabetes mellitus. This Literature Review included scientific works published in the last ten years, available in the main databases in the health area, using the following descriptors as inclusion criteria: diabetes mellitus; pharmaceutical attention; gestation; primary care; high-risk pregnancy. Even supported by law through health programs for pregnant women, the pharmacist is still seen as only the drug dispenser, with no active role in the multidisciplinary team, which has an essential role in the care of pregnant women who manifest Gestational Diabetes Mellitus, especially those with high risk. Its inclusion in the multidisciplinary team that serves pregnant women in health units is important, aiming at the prevention, protection and recovery of the health of these patients, thus obtaining an improvement in the quality of life of pregnant women.
