Resumo: | This work deals with pointwise antennas design in hyperthermia treatments. Hyperther- mia is a non-invasive therapy usually combined with chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy. The objective is to calculate the optimal value of current density passing through each an- tenna in order to selectively heat a speci ed target. An objective functional measuring the di erence between the target temperature and the solution to the model problem is mini- mized with respect to the current density by using the Topology Derivative Method. The forward problem is governed by the steady-state heat equation in living tissues which is coupled with the Helmholtz problem modeling the electromagnetism phenomenon. The resulting sensitivities are used to devise rst and second order algorithms as well as a third algorithm which combines both of approaches. Numerical experiments are presen- ted showing di erent features of the proposed methodology including its capability in selectively heating the target up to the desired temperature. Finally, a selected result is used in a transient analysis, where the hot spots are keeping over the diseased tissues during the whole heating process. |

Submitted by Parícia Vieira Silva (library@lncc.br) on 2023-02-28T18:13:20Z No. of bitstreams: 2 license_rdf: 0 bytes, checksum: d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e (MD5) Raquel Mattoso_Dissertação 2019.pdf: 1625614 bytes, checksum: 52d1558341e4fcfbb59349622ad32129 (MD5)Approved for entry into archive by Parícia Vieira Silva (library@lncc.br) on 2023-02-28T18:14:38Z (GMT) No. of bitstreams: 2 license_rdf: 0 bytes, checksum: d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e (MD5) Raquel Mattoso_Dissertação 2019.pdf: 1625614 bytes, checksum: 52d1558341e4fcfbb59349622ad32129 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2023-02-28T18:15:54Z (GMT). This work deals with pointwise antennas design in hyperthermia treatments. |
