Accelerated Obsolescence of Technological Products and the Impacts on Production Sustainability

Resumo: The objective of this paper is to present a critical study of waste generation associated with the consumption of products, whose short life cycle causing rapid replacement and disposal. Its theoretical basis is the systemic approach, as proposed by the theory of System Dynamics supported by conceptual modeling MORPH - Human Thinking Representation Oriented Model. The methodology is based on the Schumpeterian approach and with MORPH’s support, was organized a conceptual model consisted of the main variables in the scenario of industrial production, in an environment of innovation and rapid product obsolescence. A software supported on System Dynamics methodology simulates this scenario, which recreated the dynamics of the market for production and product replacement, so that one could analyze the dynamics of these variables. Thus, the inductive method was used to compose the conceptual model, based on a classical economic approach. This allowed simulating some assumptions. In this scope, there will be a conceptual study (empirical) on innovation and its dynamics to analyze future scenarios of production and marketing. With the simulated model was constructed three scenarios and it was possible to observe that the lack of concern for the recycling of products is not positive for the factors of production, depleting them. It also demonstrates that the sending of products for recycling is beneficial for maintenance of production factors and it does not affect the innovation achieved, producing a balance in the system. The considerations of this study have practical implications in a new interpretation of the creation of value, by comparing the innovation with the paradox of the depletion of natural resources. His theoretical contribution is to describe the scenario of innovation, interacting with variables to simulate different scenarios. The development of this research is didactic and intends to form an opinion to assist in decision-making production.

Su base teórica es el enfoque sistémico, tal como propone la teoría de la Dinámica de Sistemas, con el apoyo de MORPH, de la que se originó el modelo conceptual. La metodología se basa en el enfoque schumpeteriano. Con el apoyo de MORPH, organizó un modelo conceptual que se compone de las principales variables en el escenario de la producción industrial, en un entorno de innovación y obsolescencia acelerada de los bienes. Para poder analizar la dinámica de estas variables, este escenario se simuló utilizando un software compatible en el Sistema metodología dinámica, que recrea la dinámica del mercado de la producción y el reemplazo del producto. Por lo tanto, se utilizó el método inductivo para componer el modelo conceptual, basado en un enfoque económico clásico. Esto permite simular algunos supuestos. En este ámbito, se realizó un estudio conceptual (empírica) sobre la innovación y su dinámica, para analizar los escenarios futuros. Con el modelo construido tres escenarios fueron simulados y se observó que la falta de interés por el reciclaje de los productos no es positivo para los factores de producción, que con el tiempo se agote. También se muestra que el envío de productos para el reciclaje es beneficioso para el mantenimiento de los factores de producción sin dañar la innovación alcanzado, produciendo un equilibrio en el sistema. Las consideraciones de este estudio proporciona implicaciones prácticas, como una nueva interpretación de la creación de valor. Hace una comparación de la innovación con el agotamiento de los recursos naturales, lo cual es una paradoja. Su contribución teórica es describir la situación de la innovación, lo que permite la interacción con variables para simular diferentes escenarios. El desarrollo de esta investigación, es didáctica y tiene la intención de formar una opinión para ayudar en la producción de la toma de decisiones.O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar um estudo crítico sobre a geração de resíduos associados ao consumo de produtos cujo ciclo de vida reduzido provoca substituição e descarte em alta frequência. Sua base teórica é a abordagem sistêmica, conforme proposto pela teoria de System Dynamics, apoiada pela modelagem conceitual MORPH. A metodologia empregada se baseia na abordagem schumpeteriana. Com o apoio do MORPH, foi organizado um modelo conceitual composto das principais variáveis pertinentes ao cenário de produção industrial, em um ambiente de inovação e obsolescência acelerada de bens. Para que se pudesse analisar a dinâmica dessas variáveis, esse cenário foi simulado utilizando um software apoiado na metodologia de System Dynamics, que recriou a dinâmica do mercado para produção e substituição de bens. Emprega-se neste trabalho o método indutivo para composição do modelo conceitual o qual é organizado a partir de uma abordagem econômica clássica, que permitiu o teste de algumas premissas por experimentação, a partir de simulação. Dentro desse escopo, busca-se um estudo empírico sobre o cenário de inovação e uma análise de sua dinâmica, visando avaliação de cenários futuros. O modelo simulado permitiu a construção de três cenários onde foi possível observar que a ausência de preocupação com a recondução de produtos para a reciclagem influencia negativamente os fatores de produção, exaurindo-os. Também foi possível demonstrar que a recondução de produtos para a reciclagem atua positivamente na manutenção dos fatores de produção sem prejudicar o nível de inovação alcançado, produzindo um equilíbrio no sistema. As considerações presentes neste estudo têm como implicações práticas, a oferta de uma nova maneira de interpretar a criação de valor pela introdução da inovação, considerando o paradoxo da perda pela predação de recursos naturais. Sua contribuição teórica, a descrição do cenário da inovação, torna possível interagir com variáveis e simular diferentes cenários para melhor compreensão dos resultados.
