The purpose of this research is to investigate the actions of confessional and community education in Methodist educational institutions, especially UMESP and UNIMEP, based on the dialogue, two important documents of the Methodist Church approved in 1982: the Plan for Life and Mission of Methodist Church, PVMI and Guidelines for Education in the Methodist Church, DEIM. The PVMI (or PVM) is an instrument of general guidance for the people called Methodist and presents guidelines for the missionary action of the Methodist Church in Brazil. DEIM is a document drawn from the PVMI that provides specific guidance on the educational action of the Church. Thus, this research seeks to investigate what is the education proposal that these documents present and whether they were determinant or not in the walk of the Church and its denominational institutions with regard to education; and how important it is to rediscuss the role of education in the Methodist Church at that time and whether it is now possible to identify signs of these Guidelines in Methodist confessional universities.
