Resumo: This study seeks to analyze the reports on contaminated sites published by Cetesb (Environmental Company of the State of Sao Paulo), related to three of the biggest agribusiness companies in the world (Bayer, Monsanto and Dowdupont) in São Paulo State, between 2017 and 2019, as well as to make sure whether the data are correspondent to those presented by the companies in their environmental reports. The study seeks to approach, in the realm of communication, a set of communicational actions of the companies above mentioned, describing and determining how the companies communicate to the general public the information concerning the sites contaminated by them, and whether the information published by Cetesb is presented in their environmental reports. This study encompasses the epistemological localization of the studies related to this thesis for revision structuration of the literature related to the state of art connected to studies on environment and agribusiness, exploring the main themes within the field. This study is based on documental research and articles from national and international sources and platforms that contain academic content accessible by the key-words "environment" and "agribusiness" combined, leading to main themes and research areas that represent the origin of the papers. By comparative analysis, it was possible to understand the necessity of including the remediation of contaminated sites by the companies in their communication to stakeholders, especially the civil society, and consequently seek to understand whether the companies are in fact putting forward actions aimed to mitigate problems in the long run. It is perceptible that the publishing of environmental reports happens as a consequence of voluntary actions. Although the Global Reporting Initiative provides all the necessary guidelines for publishing, the companies choose what they want to communicate with society. Catesb's reports are of public domain and can be accessed by any citizen, but due to lack of knowledge, many people are not aware of the existence of this platform of information on the contaminated sites by these companies presented on Cetesb's annual reports. Therefore, environmental reports are the main source of information for these people. To contribute to the research, we highly suggest the inclusion, in the concept of materiality, the sites that were impacted and contaminated in the environmental reports.

Submitted by Noeme Timbo (noeme.timbo@metodista.br) on 2021-01-28T18:33:25Z No. of bitstreams: 1 TESE - Katia Perez 2 - texto completo (OK).pdf: 15559912 bytes, checksum: 43fac874c9f1378c19498472c4dd5cf1 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2021-01-28T18:33:25Z (GMT).
