Resumo: Nowadays one of the greatest challenges of organizations is to reach the maximum levels of satisfaction of their clients. Therefore, actions have been developed based on the requirements of global companies in which their internal processes are known for high quality standards, acquired for low costs and optimizing the time during provision of their services or elaboration of their products, aiming competitive positions and achieve the expected profitability. Thus, this research aims to develop a framework for the management of scientific events through a structured procedure based on the implementation of Lean Thinking method. In this way, institutions and/or organizers will have the possibility to create more agile and efficient processes during the planning and execution of conferences or scientific meetings. The action-research methodology was adopted for a period of 24 months during the planning, execution and control of the largest scientific event related to the area of Industrial Engineering in Brazil. Several processes and activities were evaluated during this period, mainly those related to the conferences held in 2017 and 2018, which, through the results obtained after the implementation of the framework set the LT methodology as a potential tool for the reduction of wastes during the management of scientific conferences and show the basis for a continuous improvement during the process.

Para tanto, ações vêm sendo desenvolvidas a partir das exigências de companhias globais nas quais seus processos internos são conhecidos por padrões de qualidade de alto nível, adquiridos com custos baixos e otimizando o tempo na prestação dos seus serviços ou elaboração dos seus produtos, visando desta forma se colocar em posições competitivas e alcançar a rentabilidade esperada. É assim que este trabalho visa desenvolver um framework para a gestão de eventos científicos por meio de um procedimento estruturado com base na implementação do método Lean Thinking (LT) ou Pensamento Enxuto. Desta forma, instituições ou comitês organizadores deste tipo de eventos terão a possibilidade de criar processos mais ágeis e eficientes, durante o planejamento e execução em cada uma das suas atividades. A metodologia de Pesquisa-ação foi adotada por um período de 24 meses, durante o planejamento, execução e controle do maior evento científico relacionado à área de Engenharia de Produção no Brasil.
