Resumo: It is an exploratory bibliographic theoretical research, whose object is the Degree in Languages, based on the specific legislation and the documents of official bodies and educational institutions of the country, as well as research reports published by the literature on the area. Its purpose is to understand the precariousness of the undergraduate students training (Bachelor's and Teaching Degree in Portuguese, Spanish and English), as can be seen from the results of the students performance tests (ENADE), the ratings for courses and evaluation systems for education institutions promoted by education agencies (MEC - INEP) in recent years. Despite the incentives for development, the expansion of the public and private network, the access facilitation to higher education from the 1960s to the present, as well as the relaxation of the course structures and the Minimum Curriculum replacement with the Curricular Guidelines, undergraduate courses in Languages, including those aimed at foreign language teaching, had a significant quantitative increase, but continued to show a high qualitative deficit. The evaluation results of the National Exam of Student Performance (ENADE) from 2005 to 2014 show that the national averages for the students who are finishing these courses in higher education institutions throughout Brazil have grown little and reached very low levels, especially regarding the essay-questions skills. In the light of theoretical references based on a humanistic education conception in its formative role, this work questions the current curricular proposal of Language courses and offers suggestions for didactic and pedagogical strategies aiming raising quality of Licentiate and Bachelor???s classes in Languages.

Su prop??sito es comprender por qu?? la precariedad de la formaci??n de estudiantes de pregrado de los cursos de Letras (Diplomatura en Portugu??s, Licenciatura en Portugu??s, en Espa??ol y en Ingl??s), tal como puede constatarse en los resultados alcanzados en el Examen Nacional de Evaluaci??n del Desempe??o de Estudiantes (ENADE) y la evaluaci??n de programas y de instituciones de educaci??n superior promovidas, en los ??ltimos a??os, por el Instituto Nacional de Estudios e Investigaciones Educativas An??sio Teixeira (INEP), agencia especial de investigaci??n del Ministerio de la Educaci??n (MEC). A pesar de los incentivos para el desarrollo, la expansi??n de la red p??blica y privada, la facilitaci??n del acceso a la ense??anza superior, ocurrida desde la d??cada de 1960 hasta la actualidad, as?? como con la flexibilizaci??n de las estructuras de los cursos y la sustituci??n del curr??culo m??nimo obligatorio por las Directrices Curriculares, los cursos de graduaci??n en Letras en lengua portuguesa y aquellos dirigidos a la ense??anza de lengua extranjera, tuvieron significativo aumento cuantitativo, pero continuaron presentando alto d??ficit cualitativo. Los resultados de las evaluaciones del desempe??o de los universitarios en las pruebas del ENADE desde 2005 hasta 2014 comprueban que las calificaciones nacionales de los alumnos del ??ltimo a??o de estos cursos poco evolucionaron y alcanzaron ??ndices muy bajos, especialmente en relaci??n con las respuestas de ensayo. A la luz de referencias te??ricas fundadas en una concepci??n human??stica de la educaci??n en su papel formativo, este trabajo de investigaci??n cuestiona la propuesta curricular vigente para el curso de Letras y impulsa sugerencias de estrategias did??cticas y pedag??gicas con vistas a contribuir al desarrollo de la calidad de los cursos de grado en Letras.Trata-se de pesquisa te??rica, de natureza bibliogr??fica explorat??ria, que tem como objeto o curso de gradua????o em Letras, compulsando a legisla????o espec??fica, os documentos de ??rg??os oficiais e das institui????es de ensino do pa??s, bem como relatos de pesquisas divulgados pela literatura da ??rea. Tem por objetivo entender o porqu?? da precariedade da forma????o dos universit??rios que cursam Letras (Bacharelado e Licenciatura em L??ngua Portuguesa, Espanhola e Inglesa), como se pode constatar pelos resultados dos exames de desempenho dos estudantes (ENADE), pelos conceitos dos cursos e avalia????es das institui????es de ensino superior promovidos pelos ??rg??os de educa????o (MEC ??? INEP) nos ??ltimos anos. Com efeito, mesmo com os incentivos ao desenvolvimento, ?? amplia????o da rede p??blica e privada, ?? facilita????o do acesso ao ensino superior, ocorrida desde os anos 1960 at?? a atualidade, bem como com a flexibiliza????o das estruturas e substitui????o do curr??culo m??nimo pelas Diretrizes Curriculares, os cursos de gradua????o em Letras, incluindo aqueles voltados tamb??m ao ensino de l??ngua estrangeira, tiveram significativo aumento quantitativo, mas continuaram apresentando alto d??ficit qualitativo.
