Resumo: | Skeletal muscle fatigue and recovery is a recent topics of research in Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT). Recent studies have shown positive results in enhancement of skeletal muscle performance and improvement of biochemical markers related to skeletal muscle recovery when this therapy was applied before exercise. With these factors in mind, the aims of this project are: evaluating the long-term effects of LLLT in post-exercise skeletal muscle recovery and identifying the optimal dose of LLLT. Twenty-eight high-level soccer athletes were recruited. We analyzed parameters related to the volunteers exercise performance (torque peak / maximum voluntary contraction MVC), delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS), and biochemical markers of muscle damage (CK) and inflammation (IL-6). The analyses were performed before exercise protocol, after 1 minute, and 1, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours after the end of the exercise protocol. The LBP was applied after the MVC test performed before the exercise protocol with a cluster of 5 diodes in doses of 2 J, 6 J, 10 J or placebo (200mW, 810 nm) at six sites of the quadriceps. The LBP increased peak torque (MVC) immediately after the exercise and 24 hours at a dose of 10 J and 24 to 96 hours at a dose of 2 J (p <0.05). Both doses decreased CK levels and IL-6 (p <0.05), with better results for 10J. However, the LBP had no effect on the reduction of DOMS. The laser treatment applied prior to exercise, especially at a dose of 10J, significantly increases the performance and improves the levels of biochemical markers of muscle damage and inflammation. |

Made available in DSpace on 2015-04-22T17:20:46Z (GMT).
