GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATIONS ECONOMICS AND SPATIAL MARKETING RESEARCH: SPATIAL STATISTIC AND LOCATIONAL ANALYSIS

Resumo: | The paper underlines the usefulness of Geographic Indications economic fundamentals and the geographical statistics location/concentration indexes. Form the central places theory to cluster analysis such assessment is always important to define and qualify producers, production or in other word the market offer. Concentration and location index of a GIs is a subset of the main theory analysis because GI identify a special product, a different one with social and historical features, that cannot locate production in different regions and to be concentrated near the customers. The paper doesn"™t enter in such analysis but shows the meaning of some indicators like location index that can be used to assess potentials in the region. The paper has a didactical purpose because a location analysis could be used both in economics and marketing (spatial marketing) quantitative GI researches. That also imply that every assessment of potential GI must be developed with such analysis although the legal process protocol doesn"™t mention it as in Brazil. |
