Resumo: This paper aims to analyze the contemporary role of third sector organizations in the provision of social assistance services in the face of a new model of social management based on social responsibility, democracy and citizenship. Therefore, this article proposes to verify what is the new role of organizations that integrate the third sector in the provision of social assistance services to the needy based on a new model of social management based on the principles of social responsibility, democracy and citizenship. Its importance is given by the involvement that is expected of the society itself that acting collectively, applies full citizenship. This is a bibliographic research of qualitative descriptive natureO presente trabalho propõem-se analisar o papel contemporâneo das organizações do terceiro setor na prestação de serviços sociais assistenciais diante de um novo modelo de gestão social baseado na responsabilidade social, na democracia e na cidadania. Sendo assim, este artigo propõe verificar qual é o novo papel das organizações que integram o terceiro setor na prestação de serviços sociais de assistência aos necessitados com base em um novo modelo de gestão social baseado nos princí­pios da responsabilidade social, na democracia e na cidadania. Sua importância se dá pelo envolvimento que se espera da própria sociedade que agindo coletivamente, aplica a cidadania plena.
