Resumo: Rough implant surfaces and platelet-rich plasma are thought to enhance titanium osseointegration. Torque removal forces have been used as a biomechanical measurement of endosseous integration or bone anchorage, in which higher forces required to remove implants from the bone may be interpreted as an increase in the strength of bony integration. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of primary stability of machined implants (MI) and sandblasted/acid-etched (SBAE) titanium implants associated with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) on the resistance to reverse torque removal. These factors were evaluated in six groups: 1- MI with primary stability and without PRP; 2- MI without primary stability and without PRP; 3- MI without primary stability and with PRP; 4- SBAE with primary stability and without PRP; 5- SBAE without primary stability and without PRP; 6- SBAE without primary stability and with PRP. Forty two implants were inserted in seven adult New Zealand white rabbits (Oryctolagos Cuniculus L. ). Three implants were inserted in each tibiae according to the above described groups. After a healing period of 9 weeks the animals were sacrificed and the implants were removed by reverse torque rotation with a digital torque-measuring device. Mean torque values were: 1- 53,01 Ncm (±9,68); 2- 45,29 Ncm (±16, 90); 3- 43,43 Ncm (±16,70); 4- 56,60 Ncm (±16,00); 5- 46,89 Ncm (±15,60) and 6- 48,49 Ncm (±17,06), respectively. No significant difference was detected among the groups (p>0,05). In this study it was not possible to demonstrated a statistically significant improved stability of implants subjected to PRP and texturized implants as compared to other groups.

In this study it was not possible to demonstrated a statistically significant improved stability of implants subjected to PRP and texturized implants as compared to other groups.O objetivo desse estudo foi avaliar o torque de remoção de implantes lisos e texturizados sem estabilidade primária associados a plasma rico em plaquetas. Made available in DSpace on 2011-12-27T14:14:00Z (GMT).
