Resumo: Breast-feeding has unquestionable psychological, physico chemical, nutritional and immunological advantages. lts importance to newborn child nutrition and adequate development has been widely disclosed. Sports, which have been stimulated by public authorities, as well as paid work, whose female participation has been increasingly significant mainly in reproductive age women, and housework, are increasing women's physical activity just after childbirth. The proposal of this study is to investigate the influence of physical activity on lactation, through a bibliographical revision of articles obtained by MEDLINE system from 1950 to 1980. This study will focus on human milk volume and its nutrition I components during the first four to six weeks after childbirth, when increase in physical activity may require higher energy demand. Furthermore physical activity effects on lactation are not related only to energy balance, but also to physiologic and metabolic changes.

Furthermore physical activity effects on lactation are not related only to energy balance, but also to physiologic and metabolic changes.O aleitamento materno tem vantagens psicológicas, físi co-químicas, nutricionais e imunológicas indiscutíveis; sua importância para a nutrição e desenvolvimento adequado do neonato tem sido amplamente difundida.
