SCHOOL FEEDING PROGRAM: SPACE FOR LEARNING AND PRODUCING KNOWLEDGE

Resumo: | The School Feeding Program has been mostly concerned with the provision of snacks or meals in school break. However, there are possibilities, which can be used by the Program nutritionist for developing educational activities related to nutrition, aiming at health promotion of the school community. These activities require the revision of the Program functions to use this space for discussions about conditioning factors of feeding habits, influencing factors of acquisition, cooking and ingestion of food, among other issues. To consider all the school activities also as educational ones would foster integration among students, teachers and other school workers, such as nutritionists and cooks. The promotion of openings to discuss health conditions at the workplace would contribute to the production of knowledge and to the development of continuing education practices, an essential activity in atime of rapid changes. |

Entretanto, existem possibilidades, que podem ser usadas pelo nutricionista responsável pelo Programa, para desenvolver atividades educativas em nutrição, visando a promoção da saúde da comunidade escolar. Estas atividades exigem a revisão das funções do Programa, a fim de que se aproveite esse espaço para discutir sobre fatores condicionantes dos hábitos alimentares, fatores influentes na produção, distribuição e acesso aos alimentos, entre outros. Considerar todas as atividades escolares como educativas favoreceria a integração de todos os funcionários, escolares e familiares que atuam nesse ambiente, incluindo merendeiras e nutricionistas.
